Frequently Asked Questions

The following questions address common queries from prospective applicants across both tracks. If your question is not answered here, please contact edtech@cuhk.edu.hk.

FAQs — Eligibility & Scope
Do I need to create a course to receive LinkedIn Learning licenses?

No. There is no requirement to design or deliver a formal course. Units may request licenses to support operational needs, staff onboarding, self-directed learning, or any other professional development purpose. The PAS Track is designed specifically for this use case.

Can I apply if I am a PAS staff member with no curriculum background?

Yes. The PAS Track is designed for exactly this situation. It requires no knowledge of curriculum design, pedagogy, or KPI frameworks. Simply describe how your unit will use LinkedIn Learning and estimate the number of users.

Can a single unit submit both an Academic and a PAS application?

Yes. A faculty might submit an Academic Track proposal for curriculum integration and a separate PAS Track application for administrative staff development. These are treated as independent applications.

Are alumni eligible for LILI licenses?

Alumni are considered part of the LILI target audience, but priority in this initial phase is given to current CUHK students and staff. Proposals that include alumni should provide additional justification and may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

FAQs — Licenses & Resources
How many licenses can we request?

There is no fixed cap specified at this stage. License requests should be proportionate to the stated number of beneficiaries and clearly justified. Requests that significantly exceed user estimates without explanation may be queried during review.

Does this call provide funding for workshops, staff time, or equipment?

No. This call does not provide direct funding. The primary support is the provision of LinkedIn Learning licenses. Additional resource requirements may be listed in Part V of the Academic Track form for planning purposes, but this does not constitute a commitment of funding.

What happens if we need more licenses than initially requested?

Applicants may submit a revised request or contact the LILI team to discuss license reallocation. The system is designed to accommodate phased rollouts and growing uptake.

FAQs — Certification & Badging
Can LinkedIn Learning issue CUHK certificates directly?

No. LinkedIn Learning does not issue CUHK-branded certificates or digital badges. Any formal recognition must be issued through University processes with clearly defined assessment criteria separate from the platform.

Should I include certification plans in my initial application?

Certification is an optional section in the Academic Track form and does not need to be fully developed at the time of submission. The LILI team will follow up with interested applicants about certification after initial submission. You do not need to finalise this approach to proceed.

Is CUHK developing a badge framework for LILI?

Yes. The LILI Sub-Group is developing a University-level framework for the validation, approval, and awarding of certificates and digital badges. This framework will be released separately and will apply to any LILI-related certification proposals.
